The airtightness of a property is very important as its this air movement which takes the heat away leading to increased energy usage and higher levels of discomfort.

When testing buildings either new or old we are recording the air rate of change per hour. Once this is recorded we can use it in conjunction with the building energy rating certificate. We can also take measures and work on reducing the reading that the building is recording.

Most buildings have serious issues with airtightness losses and when time and effort is spent on resolving the sources of these immediate results are felt.

We normally de pressurize the building by pulling the air through our retrotec door blowing equipment at a constant and industry standard pressure. Sometimes we fill the building with fog and introduce pressure and then observe where the airtightness issues are and then rectify the problems.
